This is my personal journal. I don't post fics here - if that's what you are looking for, please visit fics_by_llp. Otherwise, welcome! I would appreciate it if you could leave a comment telling me a little bit about yourself!

Thanks!

So I sent a thank you e-mail this morning to the hiring manager with whom I interviewed on Friday. This was her response:

"Hi Megan,

It was great getting to speak with you on Friday. You should be hearing from my assistant in Richmond at some point today in order to schedule a visit to the Center and meet with a few of my managers and me.

Take Care,
Stephanie"

I'm a little verklempt at the moment. Haven't quite processed it. But it looks like at the very least I'll be going to Long Beach in the near future...Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement, and keep those fingers crossed!

Well, I had that second-round phone interview today for an Administrative Assistant 4 position with Wells Fargo in Long Beach. For this round, I spoke with the hiring manager and a Human Resources consultant for a little over a half hour this afternoon. I tend to be a little wobbly and nervous in interviews, but I came away from this one with a generally positive outlook. Both women were very friendly and conversational and put me more at ease. Naturally, there are things I could have done better, however I feel I was articulate and gave good examples when needed with barely any hesitation. For the meeting, I reserved a conference room on an upper floor as not to be disturbed by any of my co-workers, and it worked out well. I was able to spread out and speak with more confidence. I also noticed that time seemed to fly by, which I choose to take as a good sign.

The decision on the next round won’t be made until the week of March 3rd, as the hiring manager is traveling next week. If I do make the cut, I (as well as the other finalist) will be invited out to Long Beach sometime in the week of March 10th for an in-person meeting and tour of the offices. Long Beach is a bit of a commute - a little longer than I first thought - and it would mean at least an hour plus on the train every day. But the way I look at it, I can use that time to catch up on reading (or napping).

Now the waiting begins. And we all know how good I am about waiting. In the meantime, I can at least take some solace in the idea that I feel positive about my performance and even if I don't end up moving forward with this opportunity I can build on it for the next (however unlikely) interview. And I still have my 'end date' in sight. Knowing that I will be home in L.A. by this fall goes a long way.

Well here I am again, back for more. I’m not exactly keeping to my once a week posting idea, but you all know the saying about the best laid plans…besides life always has a way of messing things up. And the last couple of weeks have been no exception.

Here Comes the Roller CoasterCollapse )

Snagged from angua9. This is a little late, but I’m a little late with everything these days…and 2013 was a tough year. These questions took a lot of thought.

What better way to re-introduce myself to LJ than with a meme stolen from luvscharlie? I haven’t been around in a very very long time, but I am going to make a concerted effort to be here this year. I’ve missed it. Hope everyone had a great New Year!

I am fortunately okay, as I made the decision to stay home to avoid the usual chaos of downtown on Marathon day. But as it stands now at least two people are dead, and 100 injured, several critically. Reports indicate some people lost limbs in the explosions.

How anyone could do this on such a special day for the city of Boston is beyond my comprehension. My heart goes out to all those affected by this horrible event.

After a long and kind of bumpy day at work it is such a kick to come home and find an email informing me that I've been nominated for "Best Adult Fic" at the rhr_awards! What a fabulous surprise!

Voting is FINALLY open at hg_silverlining for our 2009 Silverlining Awards, celebrating the best in Harry/Ginny art & fic for last year. Voting will continue until March 9th. So please go forth and VOTE!!

* Of course I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I am up for a few categories in these awards as well, including Lifetime Achievement Award, Steamiest Fic, Best Characterization of Ginny, and Best Comedy/Parody...

Thank you to everyone who nominated me for these awards. I'm really, truly flattered. ♥

* On Wednesday morning, I awakened to find some surprising news in my e-mail box. Apparently, I've been nominated for an award at the nextgen_awards! I haven't written a lot of next gen fic over the course of my fan fic "career", so to even be nominated is very exciting! *dances*

Voting starts on Sunday, 2/14!!

* On another note, nominations are now open for the 2nd Annual Silverlining Awards at hg_silverlining. We haven't received many nominations so far, and we really need your help to get things going. So don't forget to nominate your favorite Harry/Ginny art & fiction work for 2009! Nominations close on Tuesday, February 9th. Any and all pimping would be much appreciated, too. :)

help_haiti Auction
I was watching the news reports this evening on the devastation in Haiti and what I saw simply broke my heart. It has inspired me to offer my services to the help_haiti community in the form of a made-to-order Harry Potter fic. And I really do mean made-to-order: I'll write just about anything...come on, challenge me!!

So if you're interested in contributing, follow the link here.

While you're there you might also browse through the other selections of items and services that are being offered as well. There are a lot of fantastic things such as art, icons, videos, food, handmade gifts, and gift boxes. Auctions close next Wednesday, 1/20 at noon Eastern time. The money you bid will go to the charity of your choice based on a provided list of organizations.

Thank you!

I've been dabbling in the Scorpius/Rose pairing off & on, and I am in the smrw_ficafest for the second year. My Harry/Ginny (& Ron/Hermione, but let's face facts, it's 95% H/G) commitments have led me elsewhere, so I don't have a lot of time to sample the goodies in Scorpius/Rose. This is really a goodie. (And it's WORKSAFE!) I am not the gift recipient, but I wanted to pass on the loveliness/cuteness to you all.

And England Are Through!

I'm quite taken with this piece, and it is tempting to write a ficlet for it. I don't know what specifically draws me in; perhaps the vibrant colors, the innocent, carefree tone, the pairing, or maybe everything all wrapped up together. But it's quite a treat for the eyes.

My gift is a sweet PG-13 fic called Lesson of Your Life. It depicts S/R as Hogwarts students as we begin to see hints of their blossoming romance. The Rose characterization is very good. Scorpius is a sly little devil, too! Check it out! :D

I received a phone call earlier today from almond_joyz.

This morning the Harry Potter fandom lost one of its own. simons_flower passed away suddenly at age 37 at her home in Seattle. Details are posted at tqpannie's journal HERE . She was a talented writer, mostly of Trio-related fics, although she dabbled in other pairings; she worked tirelessly as a founding member of The Quidditch Pitch; she was a HUGE Hermione fan; and she recently found a niche in Star Trek fan fiction.

I came to know her through one of her Harry/Ginny writings, HEAT. We shared a love for 80's music, especially Duran Duran.

She had been ill for awhile but she seemed to be on the mend, which makes this news even more heartbreaking. She left behind a husband and a young daughter, as well as other family and many friends. Please keep them in your thoughts.

Rest in peace, Trisha.

Everyone drop what you're doing and run to the takingitinturns fic fest to read my gift:

Their daring nerve and chivalry set Gryffindors apart.

The fic was written by the brilliantly talented margaret67. It's wonderful, sexy, and funny, depicting Harry and Ginny at their finest.

Thank you again margaret67, it totally made my day! :D
